PinMe Note

PinMe Privacy Policy

Effective date:

Developer: Red Static Studio

Contact: RedStaticStudio1@gmail.com

PinMe is designed to let adults exchange screened, anonymous notes with nearby people while minimizing data collection. Most information used by PinMe stays on the user’s iPhone or is sent directly to another nearby iPhone.

PinMe does not use advertising, analytics, tracking, or a developer-operated account or messaging server.

This policy explains what information PinMe processes, where it goes, why it is used, how long it is retained, and the choices available to users.

1. Information pinme processes

Information stored or processed on the user’s device

PinMe may process the following information locally:

Radar name

The name a user chooses to display to nearby PinMe users. Users should use a nickname and should not enter a legal name or other identifying information.

Random installation identifier

PinMe creates a random identifier for the installation. It is not an Apple advertising identifier, hardware serial number, or IDFA. It supports peer identity, one-note-per-encounter limits, and blocking.

Notes

Notes sent or received through PinMe. Received notes are stored in the iOS Keychain so sealed notes are not kept in a plaintext preferences file. Users can delete received notes at any time.

Nearby-interaction information

Apple’s Nearby Interaction technology provides relative distance and, where supported, direction to nearby participating iPhones. PinMe does not request or collect GPS location.

Camera-assistance and motion information

If Camera Boost is enabled, Apple frameworks may process camera and motion information on the device to improve relative direction.

PinMe does not capture, store, transmit, or give Red Static Studio access to camera images or video. Device-motion information used to stabilize direction is processed on the device.

Safety and preference information

Terms acceptance, blocked installation identifiers, pending departure times, the chosen radar name, and camera or stabilization preferences are stored locally in iOS preferences.

Screening results

Notes are screened for objectionable content, identifying information, meetup attempts, and harassment.

Rule-based screening runs locally. On supported devices, Apple’s Foundation Models framework may provide additional on-device screening. Red Static Studio does not receive note text through this screening process.

Information processed only on the device is not transmitted to or collected by Red Static Studio.

2. Information shared directly with nearby users

To provide PinMe’s core peer-to-peer functionality, the app may send the following directly between nearby participating devices:

  • The user’s chosen radar name
  • The random installation identifier
  • Nearby Interaction discovery information required to establish ranging
  • A note the user deliberately sends to a selected nearby person

These transfers use Apple’s Multipeer Connectivity with encryption required.

Red Static Studio does not operate an intermediary server and does not receive or store these peer-to-peer transfers.

3. Reports and support email

When a user chooses “Report & block sender,” PinMe immediately deletes the reported note from that user’s device and blocks the sender on that device.

PinMe then opens a prepared email addressed to Red Static Studio. The draft includes:

  • The reported note
  • The sender’s displayed radar name
  • The sender’s random PinMe installation identifier
  • Explanatory report text

The user can review, edit, cancel, or affirmatively send the email. Nothing is sent to Red Static Studio unless the user sends it.

If sent, Red Static Studio receives the report, the reporting user’s email address and email metadata, and anything else the user adds.

The user’s email provider and Red Static Studio’s email provider process the message under their own privacy terms.

Red Static Studio reviews submitted objectionable-content reports within 24 hours. The reported note is removed and the sender is blocked on the reporting device immediately, before the email is sent.

Because PinMe has no accounts or central moderation server, Red Static Studio cannot remotely delete a peer-to-peer copy from another person’s device or impose a global account ban.

Users may also voluntarily email support from the in-app Contact screen. Support correspondence may contain the user’s email address and any information the user chooses to provide.

4. How information is used

PinMe uses information only to:

  • Discover and display nearby participating users
  • Measure relative distance and direction
  • Screen and deliver user-selected notes
  • Keep received notes sealed until the separation rule is satisfied
  • Enforce one-note-per-encounter and local blocking rules
  • Investigate reports
  • Respond to support requests
  • Enforce PinMe’s zero-tolerance terms
  • Prevent abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Maintain the security and reliability of the app

Red Static Studio does not sell personal information, use it for advertising, build advertising profiles, or track users across apps or websites owned by other companies.

5. Disclosure and third parties

PinMe relies on Apple system technologies, including:

  • Nearby Interaction
  • Multipeer Connectivity
  • Keychain
  • Natural Language
  • Core Motion
  • Foundation Models on supported devices

Information processed solely by Apple or on the device is subject to Apple’s applicable terms and privacy practices.

Red Static Studio does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

Information is disclosed only:

  • To a nearby recipient when a user deliberately sends a note or participates in peer discovery
  • To email providers when a user deliberately sends a report or support email
  • To service providers that host the privacy page, which may process ordinary web-request information under their own terms
  • When reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users, investigate abuse, or defend legal rights

Any service provider acting for Red Static Studio is expected to protect information consistently with this policy and applicable law.

Visiting this website

This privacy page is hosted by Google Firebase Hosting, which may process ordinary web-request information to serve and secure the website. The website’s separate contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile for abuse prevention and Resend to deliver messages. Those services may process technical information and, for Resend, contact-form information. This policy page does not load Turnstile or include a contact form. These website services are separate from PinMe’s on-device and peer-to-peer processing.

Read the website privacy policy for website practices and the providers’ privacy information: Google, Cloudflare, and Resend.

6. Retention and deletion

On-device information

Notes and settings remain on the user’s device until deleted by the user, replaced through normal app operation, or removed through device or app-data management.

Users can delete any received note immediately from its context menu.

Keychain items may persist through app reinstallation depending on iOS behavior. Users who want immediate removal should delete notes before uninstalling PinMe.

Peer-to-peer information

Red Static Studio has no server copy to retain or delete. A recipient controls the copy stored on their own device.

Reports and support correspondence

Red Static Studio retains reports and support emails only as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Investigate the issue
  • Respond to the user
  • Enforce safety rules
  • Document the response
  • Satisfy legal obligations

Reports and support correspondence are ordinarily deleted within 24 months unless a longer period is reasonably required for an active safety or legal matter.

To request access to or deletion of a report or support correspondence held by Red Static Studio, email RedStaticStudio1@gmail.com from the address used to submit it.

Red Static Studio may need to verify the request.

Because PinMe has no accounts or central database, Red Static Studio cannot retrieve or delete information stored only on a user’s device or another user’s device.

8. Security

PinMe uses reasonable safeguards appropriate to its peer-to-peer design, including:

  • Encrypted Multipeer Connectivity sessions
  • iOS Keychain storage for received notes
  • On-device content screening
  • Payload-size limits
  • Local user blocking

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and Red Static Studio cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Adults only

PinMe is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old.

The app requires an age confirmation before use.

Red Static Studio does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

If you believe a person under 18 submitted information in a report or support message, contact Red Static Studio so the information can be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.

10. International use

If a user sends a report or support email from outside the United States, the information may be processed in the United States or other locations used by the relevant email providers.

Applicable privacy rights may vary by location. Users may contact Red Static Studio to exercise rights available under applicable law.

11. Changes to this policy

Red Static Studio may update this policy when PinMe’s features or data practices change.

The updated page will show a new effective date. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law.
